INCOMPOSSIBLE

Marshmallow nails and liquid hammers
Dost make me balk and my mind to stammer
Solid steel windows don’t provide a view
And plastic starlings make very poor stew

There are things in this world that simply don’t get along
Like incompatible children singing a very long song
After a while one child becomes bored and starts to accost
The other child whose mind has wandered ad the lyrics are lost.

But occasionally there are things in the world that can’t be together
Like a presbyterian rhinoceros whose skin is made of luxuriant feathers
That marries a Catholic elephant in an exclusively Lutheran congregation
With bridesmaid crocodiles dancing around an icy cold congregation.

Incompossible* things simply cannot be due to physical impossibilities
Matter and Anti-matter can never come together in our present reality
A universe of oxymorons like military intelligence and business ethics
Or being a little bit pregnant or composing an accurate estimate.

An acrophobic mountain climber or being alone in a crowd
Or being astronomically small or singing quietly loud,
Or being a cheerful pessimist or initiating civil litigation
All incompossible things in impossible situations.

*(Adjective – not mutually possible.)
